There is irony in the fact that giving up a little bit of independence allows you to become more independent. Think about a Senior who needs help with meal preparation and medication reminders. A Senior who should not be preparing meals on their own, will ultimately experience fatigue and burnout because they are exhausting their efforts on making a meal that probably isn’t nutritional and healthy. Their health will suffer because they spend more time than they should preparing a meal and wont get the proper nutrition. By giving up a small part of their independence, the Senior will be able to maintain their independence longer. They will be able to rest, and get the proper nutrition necessary to stat at home as long as possible, as safe as possible.
The same is to be said of a Senior who needs medication reminders. Medications can be a nightmare for multiple reasons, by not having help with reminders, the Senior is taking on huge risk by taking the wrong medications, at the wrong times, and the wrong dosage. On the flip side, if a Senior gives up a small portion of their independence they will be able to stay safer, longer in their home. The Senior will get the proper medication, at the right time, in the right dosage which will allow them to stay at home as long as possible, as safe as possible.
